The Workshop on Gender in Mine Action

20-21/05/2009. The workshop on Gender in Mine Action was held in „Villa Ugar“ hotel on Vlašić, in the frame of the Integrated Mine Action Programme UNDP BiH. The workshop was organised with professional and financial support of the UNDP BiH. Participants in the workshop were 25 employees (12 men and 13 women) from different sectors of the BiH Mine Action Team (BHMAC). They represented all BHMAC offices in both entities and the District of Brčko. The participants were introduced to different subjects and topics related to gender equality through presentations, group work and interactive exercises. Particular focus was put on legislation in force and other documents, BiH-related and international alike, with special emphasis on the relevance of gender equality in mine action. more...

24/3/09 -  Training workshop on gender statistics in BiH was held on 24th - 26th March 2009 in Sarajevo within the framework of the UNECE & World Bank Institute (WBI) joint project “Capacity Building Program on Engendering National Statistical Systems for a Knowledge-Based Policy Formulation in CIS and SEE countries”. The training was organized in full coordination of state Agency for Statistics and entity Institutes for Statistics with UNDP BiH Gender team technical and expert support, and UNECE /WBI financial and expert support. This is the second workshop in a series of national trainings that aim to ensure that the gender perspective is integrated in the national statistical systems of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

GENDER EQUALITY AS A POLITICAL TOOL FOR INTEGRATION OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA INTO THE EU

A two-day conference Gender Action Plan and Gender Equality in View of European Integration opened in Sarajevo today

11/7/2007 - In the organization of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Gender Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a two-day conference, entitled Gender Action Plan and Gender Equality in Light of European Integration was opened in Sarajevo today. The opening of the talks with the EU on the Stabilization and Accession Agreement requires further legal and administrative reforms in order to bring the Bosnia and Herzegovina closer to European integration. This also includes the prohibition of discrimination on the grounds of sex which forms a constitutive part of the EU Acquis Communautaire.

"Gender Equality and the Media" session held

Gender Equality Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH held a session on "Gender Equality and the media" on 14 June 2007 in Sarajevo. The Chairperson Mr. Vinko Zoric said that the objective of the session was to analyze the current status and implementation of the Law on Gender Equality in BiH, to identify the causes and problems relative to the enforcement of the Law on media and to establish common measures in order to improve the general situation, including possible modifications and amendments to the existing legislation. more...

Development of the comprehensive framework for GAP implementation (new gender project)

UNDP Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Gender Coordination Board of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are launching a joint programme devoted to the implementation of the Gender Action Plan (GAP) of BiH, which has become a powerful and innovative tool for advancing gender equality in BiH and translating commitments into concrete actions. The programme is specifically focusing on the Gender Action Plan implementation and gender mainstreaming throughout the ministries of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the entity and state level. In this context UNDP BiH and the Gender Coordination Board BiH have organized a Project development mission in BiH on 05-10 February 2007.
